When I think of small car camping I imagine two mates asleep in the front seats after pulling an all-nighter driving down the coast in search of waves. But not the Japanese. These brilliant masters of the minimalist have invented an entirely new genre and there is a whole world to discover on YouTube.

Some of the creators have truly elevated it to an art form, combining the filmmaking with intricate interior design and building skills. Then they’ll just whip up an exquisite three course meal as an aside.
